Best is use a platform like OpenRent or letting agent to ensure deposit is dealt with property. If LL uses OpenRent for contract creation then OR dont hand over £ (security deposit or holding deposit or rest of 1st month rent) till up to 10 days after move in date, to protect tenants from scams or rogue LLs not handing over keys. If you dont get keys they will refund to you
