Asking for more information of a property letting agent

Dear everyone,

Recently, I viewed a property of an agent. The property seems nice, and everything looks well stated in their OpenRent advertisement. However, when I researched this company on the internet, I found out that it did not have many reviews (only 153), and almost half of them are 1-star. Furthermore, I also learned that they were not listed against any HMOs in the London Borough of Camden’s jurisdiction. There is a legal case between them and a previous tenant about Rent Repayment Orders (Link:Supreme Court rules rent repayment orders cannot be made against superior landlords). Has anyone ever rented a room with this agent? Please let me know your experience with them, because this is my first time renting a room.

While I haven’t dealt with that agent personally, I’d recommend asking for written proof of licensing and tenancy details before moving forward. If you’re open to alternatives, some estate agents in Ilford are known for more transparent practices and may manage properties in other boroughs too. It’s always worth exploring options with better reputations.
