Domestic Periodic Installation Report

In September 2017 I had a Domestic Periodic Installation Report carried out by a qualified electrician organised by my letting agent at the time. The report states it is valid for 5 years. Do I now need to get an EICR or is a DPIR the same thing? All very confusing.

I don’t believe that there is a definitive answer to that question. The Government advice says that if you’ve had a electrical installation check in the last 5 years then you don’t need another until it expires. However, the actual legislation is not quite so clear on this point. If it were me, I think I would download the Gov’t advice so that I had a defence, check that the report I had was at least equivalent to what the legislation requires and use the current report until Sept 2022.
