Hi, got an unsatisfactory EICR due to a bathroom pull cord needing refitting as screws have been pulled out of ceiling. This only appears in section 7 observations and recommendations. Is this something I can do myself and is there an admin process after works are complete to amend the EICR or so I just document the remedial works ie a before and after picture ? Thanks
If you have a c2 it’s a fail
Does the certificate give you permission to rectify the fault and in the presence of repair it’s considered a pass?
If so get it repaired with a minor works certificate from
A registered electrician and you don’t need an EICR
If there is no provision for the repair in the certificate then you need to repair and get a new certificate.
Can’t you ask the guy who did the EICR to do the repair and sign of as a pass
That’s what normally happens unless it’s a significant repair and you need to get quotes or a second opinion
when I get a spark to do a cert. I am there as well with a few tools and “stuff” so anything needed like loose screws ,I can fix right away and get a clear cert A pre check before spark arrives would have picked up on this
Apologies for delay and Thanks for your responses. I normally use domesticated electricians who would just screw it back up whilst there but this one was through an agency - I had another unit that needed a test so I got it done at the same time as that and got a minors certificate. - I will definitely be checking for the easy stuff before my next test is done. Thanks again
I know a few domesticated electricians who do their own cooking and even hoover up!
