We, my husband and I, are looking for a rental to move in around February 2026. I am struggling to find searches that go that far in advance. I am not comfortable looking at the last minute, but it seems to be the norm. Is there perhaps a place/site where landlords advertise in advance, being aware of tenant departures.
Personally, I don’t advertise until a tenant has moved out & I have a clear plan of what work is needed & time-frame to get the property is a rental-able condition.
Short answer, no. There is nothing in it for landlord to sign a contract 6 months before.
If you search through university platforms eg university homes you may find something
Student landlords rent nearly 10 months in advance
If they have a vacant property they may consider it
its too risky, tenants change their minds, both the ones moving out and the ones moving in

Thank you kindly. It is really helpful to get a landlords view.
