I am verified and passed the credit check. Do i get credit checked again?

I’m verified and have applied for a property to rent it.

Do i get credit checked again?

Hi,

A moderator may clarify but my understanding is :

The Landlord can if they so wish pay their the fee to OR and ask you to complete referencing for their purposes.

Being Verified by OR means you have paid a fee and some ammount of referencing done already and this is visible on your contact details for LL’s to view when you enquire. This is a major incentive to a LL to progress your inquiry to a viewing and further on if acceptable.

The LL of this property quite rightly may wish to do his/her due diligence about you and your references. Only the LL of this property can confirm.

What did the Landlord say about reference checks when you viewed the property?

Yes, from my perspective, but via Openrent you are dealing with individual Landlords so all will be different in their own processes.

Its up to LL. Ask them. They wont have seen results from the OR 'verification ’ so quite possibly. (Unless they asked you to apply and put down the holding deposit expect to be refused- sorry but that should be obvious).

All that being verified means to a LL is an indication you are willing to be credit checked - it doesn’t tell the LL anything terribly useful really I doubt any LL will pay attention to it, it’s a waste of £10 but a nice little earner for OR who themselves say it’s not a substitute for full referencing

Many LLs will use referencing reports (either from Openrent or and these reports typically include credit checks, affordability checks, employer checks, checks on past rent payments).

Good luck
