I’m trying to verify my income which is done through the bank. I have a joint bank account with my ex partner and we are definitely both named on the account but only his comes up when running the check! Help!
Hi, is your ex still using this bank account? That’s not clear from your post and given that he’s your ex, I’d assume that he’s no longer using the account but his name is on it historically. I had this issue although it was years and years ago, my ex husband was still on our joint account. I went to the bank and asked him to be removed, I think he might have had to sign a paper but I’m not even sure if that was the case, as he was not using the account and I could show that my salary was going in there, so they removed him. This was HSBC.
That would be a red flag for me if you were applying to rent my property. Who’s to say that he won’t one day pull the financial rug out from under your feet. Plus, it makes it very difficult to ascertain how you independently manage money by looking at the last 6 months of bank statements. I wouldn’t know how to distinguish your spending from his.
In your situation, I would open a separate bank account ASAP and transfer all your money and payments over to that.
