Hi all, on applying for references, do Open Rent require BOTH husband & wife for references with regards LL rental properties or do they add BOTH salaries up (like normal people would)?
Open rent have requested BOTH myself & wife for references but my wife’s has failed as she doesn’t earn enough to pay the rent in her own right…mine did no issues!
The LL has now rejected our application, returned our deposit & is now not communicating at all! ie, hiding!!!
Who makes the initial reference enquiry to Open Rent, the LL or Open Rent themselves?
Referencing costs £ to do and is not automatically included by OR. The LL.trusts a referencing co to do it properly and will have paid for it..
If you and your wife didn’t declare a joint total income if that was what you wanted affordability based on, that’s down to you tho. Nothing stopped you checking with OR before you completed the form did it?
Or…could be LL wanted 2 tenants who could each afford on their own. There 's a scam where the one who can afford moves out and the other can’t be evicted till rent arrears, application for possession, baillifs..
