Landlord forwards to letting agent

I found a listing on OpenRent and messaged the landlord for a viewing.

His response is to talk to a letting agent and provided his phone number. We had a call, exchanged messages over WhatsApp and scheduled a viewing.

During the viewing I learned the tenancy contract would be between me and a property management company.

I expected to have to deal with the landlord only but here I am presented with two third parties to deal with.

Is this normal and allowed on OpenRent? Should I report the listing?

No that’s not normal. I would report the listing. It also sounds suspicious, and could possibly be a scam. This sounds like a rent to rent schemes (aka “property management company”) and I avoid these like the plague.
