Hi there, I’ve just started on MTD and my accountant requires I used Xero. Is there anywhere I can get guidelines on standard code numbers for rental expenses - e.g. what would Service Charge come under? Thanks for any help!
If my accountant required this, in return I’d require them to give me codes for all expenses. Have you asked them?

No I should but feeling bad cos I’ve left it till very last minute.
No need to feel bad - your accountant fee will no doubt reflect any need for overtime and most accountants are not poor

doubt you’ll get the answers you’re looking for here. Give them a call and ask them to send over codes asap. That’s what you’re paying them for.

I’ve been using xero for years. If you click on “accounting” then in the drop down “chart of accounts” you will see a list of accounts. I have one for service charges. If you don’t have that you can just add it. Ours is listed as an “overhead” account, but I assume “expenses” would be equally valid.
