Hi! I saw an ad studio flat to let, am very interested however I saw the same ad saying “let agreed”. How will I check or know if the ad is legit? Will view the property this Monday. Need help thanks
@Jennifer_Louie are both ads on OR? check with LL might be they have 2 studios to rent out and duplicated 1st ad to create ad for 2nd one. Other possibility is LL mistakenly created a copy of original ad.
If one ad is on OR and second is elsewhere and a copy for same property eg on Rightmove then could just be a delay before the ‘let agreed’ status is added to the 2nd ad. Again LL should be able to tell you.
As to whether an ad is ‘legit’ I don’t think OR do any checks (unless LL is using OR to create the tenancy and put the deposit in a scheme), just like other listing sites. You need to check/judge for yourself. Obviously safer if LL is using OR or a lettings agency to handle deposit and initial monthly payment. (OR hang on to it for up to 10 working days after start of tenancy to stop rogue LLs who don’t hand keys over)
