Hello, I paid for advertising my property and want to log it in my accounts but I can’t seem to find how I get a receipt. I closed the advert down as we took it off open rent in the end. Any ideas please.
@Tracy44 contact OR support (click ‘support’ at bottom of OR page) but you’d have been sent an email by OR almost as soon as you paid, confirming you’d paid for the advertising service. That will be your receipt.
Check your email inc spam folder

Firstly it would have been emailed to you. Secondly,when you log into OR, click on your photo in top right, select edit profile, then payment history

Just to add to what David and Karl said, advertising costs for finding tenants are allowable expenses against your property income for HMRC purposes. So it is worth keeping that receipt carefully.
When you do your self-assessment, you claim it under “landlord costs” or “other allowable property expenses” depending on your software or form. A simple folder per tax year, digital or physical, with all property related receipts in one place is a good habit to build. Especially now with MTD digital record keeping requirements coming in, having that discipline in place already will save a lot of time later.
