My UK guarantor is finding the reference process quite demanding. He’s mentioned that he’s never been asked to provide details such as his salary and bank account information for previous tenancy references. Has the OpenRent referencing process changed recently, or are these additional requirements specific to this tenancy?
It’s not demanding at all. how can the referencing establish if the guarantor can afford to cover the rent if you dont pay, without knowing the guarantor’s income and outgoings? If referencing was done badly before that’s no excuse for not doing it properly now, is it?
It’s much more difficult to evict people under RRA so landlords are being more vigilant

just because someone didn’t do it properly in the past is no excuse for him refusing to do it properly now. I’d let him know that this was standard procedure and that by failing to provide this info, the tenancy won’t go ahead for whoever he’s guaranteeing.
