Why doesn’t Open Rent newsletter not talk about obligation on many Landlords to register with Local Authorities?
Erm this is for OR not fellow LLs? I’m sure @mod_harry will pass the suggestion on.
Aside from HMOs, most LAs don’t have licensing schemes but I’m sure we all checked if our properties needed to be licensed after an MP got in trouble over this….

Funnily enough, a year before that MP got found out, I realised the council where I have two properties had introduced licensing a year before that. They’d not notified any landlords at all. I can’t even remember how I found out. It was through some third party and totally by chance. The council were fine about it though. In fact, they don’t seem too bothered about setting it up. One property took nine months from application to approval. The other hasn’t had any response whatsoever since my application 9 months ago.
I’m in no rush…
