Do I need to chase guarantor or can I take unpaid rent from deposit?

Would anyone know where to find information on this- 4 students moved in together and all had guarantors. One left 2 months before the end of contract after a fall out and stopped paying rent. His guarantor has stopped answering to me.
All 4 paid into the deposit so 1 month of the absent tenant is covered by his portion of the deposit.
Can I take his 2nd month from the deposit, thereby taking a third off each of the other tenants deposits or should I chase the absent lads guarantor more? Is there a way to suggest legal proceedings to the absent lads guarantor so the remaining 3 can get full deposit?

Many thanks,
Fran

If the tenants and guarantors are all on the same agreement just take it out of the deposit
Make your life easy it’s joint and several liability for a reason ( to protect you against this)
If your guarantor deed is limited then you need to chase guarantor of said tenant
If it’s unlimited you can chase any of the guarantors
As I said it’s a lot quicker to get it out of the deposit than go to court with a guarantor
Be pragmatic and save yourself a headache

Many thanks for your response.

The response above assumes that they’re all on a joint tenancy. If that’s not the case then you can only pursue the individual tenant.
