There are people who would like to live on
private rented properties too and they have freedom
to move around because of jobs opportunities.
Also there are people wanted to stay on rented properties
because they donot need to worry about maintenance
etc.
There are no shortages of houses because of
private landlords as because the way some people
think and especially those tenants who have not got
much to do in their life except to blame others and
cannot see hard working people and private landlords
creating jobs for themselves as like any other self employed
people and any smaller business.
I think I pressed the wrong reply to, someone mentioned about an absolute guarantor from the council and I was asking how I’d go about finding out about it.

Jo
Hi, well after reading all this, it seems me and my daughter will be on the streets then. My heart is so heavy, all I want is decent home, somewhere I can be proud of and call my own. Guess it’s just a pipe dream
Society is allowing us??? Do you think we just decided ok I will be a landlord and poof a house appears and thats it. No of course not. We worked like the devil went without saved like mad ensured the house was fit enough for ourselves to live in and then rented it out. Why have you not bought a house? There are loads of cheap and expensive for you to choose from right across the country. Is it the usual oh I cant afford it? It takes a great deal of effort and determination something that people who blame those that do have for. Stop all the poor me and get out and do it for yourself.
I claim housing benefit and well aware of the stigma regarding DSS tenants. I have a working, homeowner guarantor, been a social housing tenant for 30 years, keep a lovely, clean home, can provide good references and offered 6 months rent in advance to alleviate any monetary concerns for the landlord. STILL I receive no, no no because I am a lowly unpaid Carer. I sign up with Open Rent which supposedly has a lot of DSS accepting landlords - it doesn’t!
I feel like my whole character has been degraded and not one landlord will give me a chance.
Hi Natasha
I absolutely agree with you about the dss stigma. How estate agents make you feel its shocking some of the advice I’ve been given by estate agents 1 being that I must lie to the social housing to get a place from them. I don’t need to lie about anything as mine and my partners reasons are genuine however as told by the homeless team they have over 30,000 homeless people to find homes for. I feel like it is a cleansing of the less fortunate local people being priced out of their community for the more well of and so hike up the sales and rental prices and 2 fingers up to those who have dedicated their lives to the community in growing up and working full time in there healthier days I feel like a dumped car because my mot has gone and so sent to the breakers yard .
I too came on this site as was suggested by many estate agents that I would find landlords who accept dss well surprise surprise all have said NO SORRY MY INSURANCE WON’T COVER DSS.
I get the landlords position so what are us broken humans supposed to do?
How can we get the mortgage companies adapt to help with this matter?
How do people who rent whilst employed from a landlord then faces the unfortunate position of losing their job change their rental contract?
I have had a physical and mental breakdown from searching, no one knows what or how their life pans out different paths take you down many roads but when life throws you many curveballs through other people’s bullying and you fight to stay of the social because you know the stigmas you face. It’s bloody humiliating and not everyone has been gifted with money, good education,or come from a wealthy background. If I could I would like to be able to fend for myself financially.
Hope you find a lovely home soon.
Ask your insurer to confirm in writing that clause does not apply, or change your insurer. I suspect the clause is not enforceable and is illegal to have.
Hi Jo,
I am so sad reading your experiences. I hope you find a home too as you deserve one. I have watched the tenant and landlord programme on C5 and from what I see it is mostly tenants in full time employment, 2 cars on the drive and highly regarded in society who treat their homes and landlords like trash and leave with rent arrears in the £1000s! Not always tenants on benefits like people assume! Sorry it took a while to reply as had to wait 24 hours X
