My new tenants would like the keys to the property 2 days before the AST begins so they can move some things in. The property is empty so I don’t mind that. But will I be leaving myself open to any problems by giving them the keys early?
Definitely do NOT hand keys over before AST is signed.
Hi Caroline,
As Mike indicates, keys should not be provided to tenants without a signed tenancy agreement in place.
We’ll let you know when the keys should be handed over. This will be after the final balance is received in Rent Now:

Kind Regards,
George
I had tenants who wanted to do something similar, my solution was to simply start the tenancy earlier. Has with Mike and George I agree that keys should never be handed over before the tenancy actually starts.
