Hmo tenant claims to be managing the place and demands a room inspection

I moved into an hmo 4 days ago and a person who is a tenant there who went through my contract with him (pre-signed by landlord) has said he wants to do a room inspection in 3 days.

He does some work around the communal areas.

I’ve told him that unless he is on the hmo licence that he has got absolutely no right even with landlords permission (unless an obvious emergency is occurring)

Is this correct :thinking:

Contact your landlord and ask them. I see no reason why a landlord could not use a tenant, as a third-party, to do works, including inspections.

Agree with @Karl11 check with LL but sounds like this tenant acting on LL’s behalf and LL can choose whomever they like to do inspections.
