Letting agents and their responsibilities

Been contacted by the police due to a property of mine being used for a cannabis grow, I used a letting agent who was appointed by a property sourcing company am I able to obtain all the information regarding the tenants who he let the property to and if he didn’t obtain all the relevant information such as ID references and suitability to rent who do I contact, my landlords insurance company are requesting this information to process a claim

Don’t see why you can’t have it, you paid for it and it’s your house.

I would have asked for it at the time, and to check they had done it properly as don’t trust anyone.

If they haven’t done things correctly, I assume you would find out which property scheme they are registered with and complain or seek legal advice.

I expect others on here will know more.

Yes, you can see this. Dont be put off by their claims that its a breach of data protection. You will, of course, need to have given your own GDPR privacy notice to the tenant first and probably be ICO registered.

If it turns out that they were negligent, then I would recommend the complaints process, escalating to their redress scheme if they dont properly address the issue.

Never used letting agent and never would as I’ve stated very clearly in the past, this is another example why you should not use them, had they carried out their inspections this might never have happened.
It sounds to me that you have never met the tenant perhaps I am missing something here but surely you would want some sort of input of who is living in your property so a face to face with the tenant will tell you all sorts.
