No longer wanting to be somebodys gurantor

Anybody help me get in contact with an agent
I need to remove myself from being somebodys guarantor

You need to contact the Landlord. Their contact details will be on the rental / guarantors agreement of which you should have a copy.

You can’t just remove yourself. Thats the whole point

you cannot remove yourself ,otherwise there would be no point in being such, and the person who you guarantee would not have been able to rent, you are still liable

I dont have a copy the person i was a guarantor for arent on speaking terms with me. we just know the rental property is with openrent

If you signed digitally via Openrent you WOULD have received a copy of the contract by email when you signed it. Check your email.

Did you read the guarantor contract you signed?

Ive never recieved it the person in question is coming to the end of there contract so it would be ideal for me to get intouch with their landlord to say i wont be going ahead to be the gurantor
Is there anyway of speaking to someone on openrent to help with this so i can get my details to the landlord

You will remain the guarantor until one of these things happen:

  1. The landlord releases you from your obligations
  2. The tenancy comes to an end (that does not mean when the AST ends)
  3. The landlord increases the rent but this depends on the wording of the guarantee clauses.

You must get yourself a copy of the AST so you can see exactly the terms you have agreed to. It is clearly a big mistake to have not obtained a copy at the start of the tenancy.

If the tenant and LL do nothing ,then at the end of the stipulated contract period eg 6 or 12 months the tenancy will automatically default to a periodic tenancy that can go on for years with all the origional contract clauses still valid including guaranors .
If effect you are in the hook forever unless the tenant or Landlord give notice to end the tenancy.
Why would any LL let a Guarantor off the hook ,it would be silly to do that.
