Pets and Lease Terms

It’s ok. You don’t need to fight with me. I was just clarifying. So, DAVID Smith said it was not valid? How would you challenge this?

Sorry, I’m not fighting with you .

I have not been in a situation with an emotional support animal so I would seek legal advice if I were ever accused of discriminating against someone for this.

There is no defence against a s21 notice other than it not being validly served. The tenant would have no opportunity to mount a defence of discrimination.

Emotional support animals are not recognised in the UK. There is a possibility of a tenant bringing a case against a landlord under disability discrimination if theyre refused one. However, to my knowledge it hasnt happened yet and given the impending changes with the RRB, it now seems unlikely.

I keep my rents low, but anyone bringing a pet without my permission will see hefty increases at every opportunity.

Has anyone ever checked with these animals if they desire to be kept as pets by humans or is it people just assuming that it’s what animals really want? My money is on selfish human behaviour.

According to a Documentary I saw produced by Universal Pictures, entitled ‘The Secret Life of Pets’, they quite like socialising with each other, rather than humans.

When I see some of the human “leaders” I can undersatand why.

This is exactly why my husband and I wont grt a dog, we both work long shifts and its not fair on the poor dogs to be left alone all day, they really suffer for it and I wish it was made illegal.

There are now many dogs on anti-depressants, can you believe it, because during covid they got used to their owners being with them all day, and as people go back to working the dogs get stressed and the vets are putting them on prozac
