One of my two tenants has given notice to leave (20th March end date). I therefore need to remove her from the current agreement and create a new agreement for the remaining tenant. When I go to update the existing agreement on Openrent to remove the tenant who is leaving there does not seem to be an option for me to enter 20th March. I am worried that if I remove her now she will no longer be on the contract up until her notice period.
If you have a two individuals on a joint tenancy and one tenant gives notice, it ends the tenancy for both. If the other tenant wishes to stay you will need to issue a new tenancy for that person. Before doing so you should be sure that they can afford the rent on their own.

Firstly you need to make sure the tenants notice is valid:
- is the tenancy currently periodic?
- is the notice at least a calendar month long?
- does the notice expire at the end of a tenancy period?
- it the notice unequivocal, stating that they will be leaving, not they might be leaving?
- Is the notice in writing?
If yes to all the above then the tenancy will end for both tenants as Christopher says. You will need to do a full checkout, deal with the deposit and create a new tenancy.

It definitely shows before the new contract is proposed, an option to add / remove tenants, choose the ‘from date’, change rent amount etc. I was looking at this yesterday and was all there for me
Firstly, many thanks for all the replies which have been helpful, but I am still struggling with one particular issue. As a reminder, I have two tenants , one of which has given notice to leave on 20th March and the remaining one requires a new contract starting 21st March. The current payment date is 15th, and my tenants have paid in full up until 20th March.
I have been told to use the renewal process. I have tried this and can remove the tenant from the renewal who is leaving. However, when I try to enter 21st March as the start date it wont allow me to enter as will only give me the option of entering the current agreement payment date (15th of the month). What action do I need to take to set up a new agreement?

Why is the payment date different to the tenancy period? Was it formally changed?
Yes, the tenant gave notice on 20th Feb and it was formally agreed that the end date would be 20th March. Having trawled through info on Openrent it looks like I need to relist the property and then go through the process of setting up a new tenancy agreement for the remaining tenant.
I recently renewed a tenancy and was also surprised to learn that you have to relist to create a new tenancy. Just relist using OpenRent only. Pause the add immediately to avoid enquiries and just send your tenant the link so they can place holding deposit etc.

Are you saying that the tenancy runs from 15th to 14th of next month, but the tenants gave notice on 20th? Was the notice valid?
