Probably depends a lot on who the guarantor is. The difficulty for many international students is that they don’t have a guarantor in the UK, and an overseas guarantor isn’t worth very much.

Authenticating is one thing, bigger problem is that in practise, it would be so expensive and uncertain to pursue an overseas guarantor that it just isn’t worth it. Oh, and the first thing you need to consider is Right to Rent, you can go to jail for not following these rules!
