Requesting tenants for their employment contract

Hi everyone, I’m a brand new landlord and would welcome your views on this topic. I would like to request the tenant to provide me with their contract of employment including salary and details of temporay or permanent. Main reason is to eeassure myself they have a stable job and income to afford the rent. Is this a reasonable request ? Thank you everyone, Alex

I insist the applicant has a reference check unless I know them. For as little as £90 per year I can then get rent insurance guarantee until the tenant is removed. On around £6000 per year rental £90 is a drop in the ocean.

Always ask for salary proof, otherwise how can you judge whether they can pay the rent? If they cant do this WALK AWAY. (landlord of 30 years)
