Roof Terrace Leak Repair Responsibility

I have a roof terrace as an extension at the back of the flat (raised ground floor flat) which sits on top of the basement flat. The basement flat reported leaks from the roof terrace into their flat, the contractor I hired investigated and suggested to redo the roof with new waterproof materials. Should this repair cost be shared between me and the basement flat ? They have always asked me to investigate and paid for the maintenance which is not as what I understand given we share the roof.

In flats it’s usual for costs to be split equally by the owners of the entire block.

Only the lease can confirm.

If you rent get onto landlord, if not and If the flat is managed then you should contact management company.

Is it a proper roof terrace or just access to a flat roof?

Thanks Mark and David for your replies. It is a proper roof terrace . I checked the lease and it includes roofs as common parts of the building. I have asked the building management to check .

as Mark 10 says all leaseholders should contribute to the structural repair of the building
