I am renting a property with a garden and last year I had to have a leak repaired on the roof of the shed. Insofar as the shed is part of the property I am letting I understand that I can report the expenses in box 25 of my tax returns on property income (Repair and maintenance). Would you agree? Also, I paid cash the initial work of a handyman who quickly intervened to stop the leak in order for the the material inside the shed not to be ruined (I then called a professional to replace the roof). Would a hand written note count as receipt for a maintenance job? (I usually pay by bank transfer to keep a record but on this occasion I had to act quickly).
Thanks
I pay cash for some business items . The accountant has no problem with my just writing on a piece of paper what I have spent
