Tenant Wants Break Clause After 2 Months – Worth It?

er… have you been following the various policies that this present government has attempted to implement?

It seems like another case of the vast majority of good landlords being punished because of bad behaviour by a few.
We have only one property and are what you’d call “accidental landlords “. We don’t have a portfolio and having the flat unrented could be a big problem with mortgage payments, council tax etc. when the time comes to sell, it could become a problem as you say if the place doesn’t sell quickly.
I’ve never served a section 21 notice and my tentants always leave when the time naturally comes, as we usually rent to friends sharing.
This makes me very anxious indeed.

The new government is in power for less than a year, I think the previous is just as to blame for this, let’s not try to politicise this too much.

er… You’re the one who said that they hadn’t thought the bill through very well.

You can blame the previous lot for things they implemented when they were in power, but its the current lot that are implementing this. If they didn’t want to, they wouldn’t have to.

True. What I meant is, they are not very different to each other! It’s all populism to create a problem that (at least in my reality) does not exist. The crisis in the sector is because of lack of housing, it is pretty obvious. What are they doing instead? Making it even harder, so small landlords are leaving the market. Now housing stock will get bought even more by the large companies with a huge portfolio that couldn’t care less about their tenants and don’t get really affected by the changes. Nice work… (not!)
