Tenants want a longer notice period on periodic tenancy

Hi all, hopefully someone can help!

My tenants are nearing the end of the contract and have a strange request.

They’re happy to go onto the rolling periodic tenancy, but wanted to have a two-month notice period for ending their tenancy themselves, rather than one month.

i.e they want more security between each other that if one decides to leave they have two months, rather than one, to find a new tenant to replace the leaving party.

Is this at all possible without having to create a new contract?

They can just have an agreement between themselves.

Tenant requirement by law is one months notice.

In fact, its a minimum of one month’s notice, so the tenants can give two month’s notice if they wish and both agree, but they can’t make it legally binding on themselves at this stage.
