Unfair rent increase?

I have had 2 rent increases since I moved in. If I accept this third one then my rent will have increased by 20% (or £1600 a year) since i moved in 3 years ago. I’m just supposed to accept that and be grateful? I don’t think so.

It’s forcing a shortage as LL dispose of stock. This means more tenants fighting for same property, which pushes up prices.

Also means only the best tenants will have a chance, those with perfect credit, the right job, stable employment, savings. Higher risk tenants will have far less chance then currently. They won’t even be able to give rent in advance to try to off-set the risk. Homeowner guarantors will become essential.

Corporate landlords are disliked the most by tenants. Ruthless.

As a landlord you are running a business and if you aren’t making money they you’re no good at it. Nobody is going to mop up after your bleeding heart.

I have not moaned about a hard life at all ( now your place is suddenly substandard !?). I am very well off as I have worked since I was 16 as a joiner/builder Done very well Get real D

I don’t care, I’m buying a place. After 25 years of living in damp moldy overpriced substandard accommodation I don’t need a greedy landlord ever again - and I certainly don’t need their opinion on anything..

You’ve literally been asking for opinions of landlords. You sound bitter, you made your own bed, misplaced blame by the sounds of it.

You had choice of moving out, nobody forced you to stay. Mould is typically the fault of the tenant.

All of a sudden its damp, mouldy and substandard just after he did not get the answers he wanted.. Not mentioned in first post .

Not once did I ask for the opinion of a landlord. Why would I? I don’t like them or care for their opinions. What makes you think your opinion is worth anything?

I was talking about the last 25 years of renting from greedy scumlords. I was looking for an answer to the question I asked, not a bunch of landlords bleating on about how hard done by they are.

Did I post this in the “tenant discussion” section or the moany landlord section?

You are a tenant bleating on about how hard done by you are so why not get out earlier? Have to go now I have to rearrange all the banknotes under my mattress Sweet dreams and good night

Tenants never help anyone on these forums. They help themselves, then disappear without so much as a thank you.

I’m just asking how to avoid paying a rent increase…

Well that was hilarious

Er… yes you did buddy…

… et voila…

Keep those realisations coming… they’re very precious.

Easy:

  1. Give notice
  2. Find cheaper place
  3. Move out

Ummmm. Accidental landlords, there’s plenty of those. Those that do it to pay for their care. Those that are working away for periods of time. Those that tried to get some kind of return on their savings….

I can see why it’s taken you 25 years.

That’s harsh and unwarranted I’d say. Plenty of decent tenants on here trying to help other tenants and also giving us LLs an insight into things from their perspective.

It would be easier to contest the section 13…

Granted, yes it’s a little harsh. Typically the case though. Rare for them to give thanks, that remains

Which is also something I suggested back up the thread above and has, as I pointed out, the advantage of freezing your rent until the lengthy process is resolved thereby buying you time.

Edited to add that going to a rent tribunal isn’t simply filling in a form. It’s a bit more involved than perhaps you’re currently aware.

Yes so how do I do that “rent 1”, “form 6” ? The Section 13 form 4 is invalid for sure, all the dates are wrong? that’s all i want to know.
