I’ve just done a viewing with a man who came along with his child. He said he would be living mostly alone as his wife travelled with their son for months at a time! I wasn’t sure about him but before I had a chance to reject him he paid a holding deposit!!! Can I still reject him no reason just a gut feel that something doesn’t stack up!

you can still reject. Anyone who puts down a holding deposit without the landlords sayso I would not take on

Its usually not their fault. The Openrent system makes it appear part of the normal process.
