Where do I stand after moving into new property

I have never heard a black person refer to themselves by the N word ,if they did I would be shocked and tell them not to do that

Why go back to your original place
You left in the first place because there was a problem !

The grass isn’t any greener on the other side….

Learn from your mistakes !

You suffering a hate crime is not the landlords responsibility. You need to speak to the police.

FYI
Many cases like yours have gone to court and tenants have lost.
The high court has ruled on noise in rentals and it’s not the landlord’s responsibility. The ruling even stipulates the landlords don’t have to sound proof homes as it would be too costly.

I was born in this country to immigrant parents . If I moved every time I heard a racist slur I would literally be homeless.
Even today the elderly people make offensive comments. That’s their generation it’s normal .

I’m told ‘ me and my people’
(Like I run a country)
Walk away
You need to grow a thicker skin.
My mother has lived in the same house since the day she was married over 50 years ago. Her neighbour is vile and asks when she’s going to die every time he sees her

She’s 81. She’s not moving ! It’s her home she was there first and her attitude is she will die before she moves up. He’ll just have to wait and he says a lot worse to her than queer.
There is one like that person everywhere; you will never escape it. Where there is ignorance there is hate

Toughen up!! Don’t feed into the narrative rise above it. Didn’t your parents teach you to ignore this stuff. People behave that way because they don’t understand they are ignorant and cowards. Honestly this is primary school playground stuff…

How old are you ?
If you were my tenant I would not accommodate this

sticks and stones etc… Funny how words have changed over the years . Gay used to mean happy … Tranny was a transistor radio… Queer was something unusual or strange.

which would have been obvious when you viewed the property, no?

er… no he didn’t…

His agent did. So it will depend on his confract with the agent, but typically it’s at least a month’s rent + VAT for tenant find… potentially more if it’s full management.

It makes no sense to me that pro rights organisations would use what is considered an offensive term in its official material, a term that they heavily push and is well known.

It promotes the use of the word, yet sets ignorant or naive people up for being labelled as homophobes and being done for a “hate crime”!

But he didnt call you queer accirding to you he quickly changed it so its not an offence

What i cant seem to understand is it the peace and quiet is so vitaly important to you why didnt you view the property or at keast the area at different times of day
Go in a morning see what its like go around 6ish see how busy it gets when people start arriving home from work and kids may be playing out and go at night to see if there is music or anti social behaviour or gangs of youths
Just as you would if buying somewhere

I don’t think you have a leg to stand on here. You entered a contract, now you have to respect it.

That’s not how I see it. My health comes first. Not willing to live in a property where I won’t be able to convalesce after each round of chemotherapy.

I’m also not happy about the state of the cleanliness of the property when I moved in. It obviously had not been cleaned properly. Dirty Cooker And Extractor Hood and a Dirty Refrigerator and Dirty Bath. Was also not happy with the estate agent handling me the keys to the property in the street and not even coming up to the property and when I asked him where the rubbish bins are he said he hadn’t a clue. Service and cleanliness of flat were not acceptable

If cleanliness was not to standard then contact the agent and complain.

This is not cause for rejection if you’re hoping for this.

Was an inventory done? Have you signed it?

Yes I was sent an inventory by Email to sign the day before I moved in. The inventory was apparently done by the estate agent. I wasn’t present when it was done

It might not have actually been done, I only have the estate agents word for it

This sounds like a disgruntled tenant making new excuses to walk away because he can’t get out of contract and he didn’t get the answer he wanted from his original post …

Are you all Landlords replying to my post? Sounds like it to me.Glad I’m not one of your tenants and how would you feel if it was one of your family in this situation if they also had Cancer?

An inventory is something a tenant signs. Ask for a copy.

Why did you sign without inspecting first?

The inventory did not say anything about the property being a fit clean state to let or did not say that I’d been here or had to be when the inventory takes place. If no none tells you your rights then what am I do

I have got a copy of it

I am getting confused, you said they may have not performed one.

you don’t need to be there when inventory is done.

You just need a copy of it. Have you signed it? You should contest anything you disagree with before signing. It’s odd that it doesn’t mention cleanliness.

Regardless, this will not allow you to reject the property.

No I didn’t sign it as I wasn’t asked to. Find below the copied and pasted message from the estate agent informing me of the inventory

Please find attached the check-in inventory, if there is anything that needs amending, please let me know within 7 days of receipt of this email.

This is where our involvement in the property ends, any future queries or maintenance issues will need to be directed to the landlord. Their details are below and on the AST.
