I have four Student tenants completing their referencing information via OpenRent.
One of them has added their guarantor details which i have been asked to accept or reject. When i click to accept the guarantor i see a screen with guarantor details and I am asked whether i want to initiate referencing for them.
On the same screen there is also an optional ‘Guarantor for’ section i can complete. Here i can choose to link this guarantor to one of the tenants or to link them to ‘Everyone’.
Can someone help clarify whether selecting this option has anything to do with what appears in the actual tenancy agreement i.e. the guarantor on the tenancy agreement is only guarantor for that tenant? Given that this is a joint and several liability tenancy, this wouldn’t make any sense.
Or am i overthinking it and it is this simply a way for me to identify who the guarantor is linked to and has no impact on what is on the tenancy agreement? thank you.
