No Sean “a few” should never constitute many. IT IS BLANTANT DISCRIMINATION and nothing else. It is actually indirectly to women as more single parent women are on benefits than men and guess who many reject now also? Yep you guessed it single parent mothers.
You should take your sentiment to your MP. This new Bill is exactly there for tenants like you . A few bad landlords paved the way for many and A few bad tenants pave the way for many . That’s life. It will only get worse.
When a single mother doesn’t pay rent or doesn’t want a rent rise (but she goes out and purchases a pet, and all the faff that comes with it, for her child ) she makes it harder for all the responsible ones of you .
It’s about prioritising and fiscal responsibility .
This is the reality of life. People are not always fiscally responsible and I’m not restricting that to UC or even renters . It’s a generational shift. Have now and don’t worry about it. Everyone wants everything. No one wants to work for it.
I always DISCRIMINATE against those whose income source is NOT enough to pay the rent and have enough over to live a decent life. If I consider them to be a scrounger/ scumbag/ layabout etc ,they will be on their way
Spot on. Too many people consider themselves entitled. On their bike and close the door behind you
There are a lot of good and bad comments on here.
Yes entitled and want everything for nothing.
How do landlords difference between scumbags and those that are entitled too honest people without knowing them. Are the honest ones working, are benifits scumbags even though they could be working and need top ups.
Why do tenants have to be honest and open when landlords can lie.
Does a tenant ask for your finances if you have CCJs the list goes on.
What is a comfortable living now days.
The whole system is knackered ( putting it nicely)
Landlords are done over by legislation from governments.
Not all landlords are bad. Not all benefits are bad and as for working people renting I have seen the news, grow houses or antisocial behaviour and why, because they can afford to pay 6 months + in advance.
I’m happy for advice, honesty and views (and a property lol).
I know no DSS is illegal but I wish they never done it.
I apply for 10 properties a week and always get some excuse.
Today’s one was the funniest 3 bed house in spilsbury.
We are a family myself my wife and our 2 daughters
“Hi Sean,
Thank you for your enquiry. Unfortunately, due to the size of the bedrooms, this property would not be suitable for 4 adults.
I apologise but we are unable to consider your application.”
lol ok.
So I would rather see no DSS no Pets. Then I’m not wasting my time and the landlord/ estate agent.
When you get to be my age and have worked for ALL types of people you just get a vibe on who is a “wide” boy/girl and who is more reliable
I agree with you there. I also can tell who the wrong and right are but that’s is meeting and chatting to them. But how do you tell from just chatting online and from forms.
eg if I was to put in a application to rent from you. Gave you my finances and reason for wanting to move. How can you tell if I’m a wrongdoer.
A sensible landlord would always see face to face before deciding on a tenant. At the very least a video/phone call.
For me, I need to get the feeling that they will be reasonable when things need sorting, either way, so good communication essential.
Always face to face . Wrongdoers trip themselves up when a later question is asked in a roundabout way. I could tell you a few stories but too many for here
