I am interested in renting a flat via open rent platform. I viewed already the property with a friend of mine. She submitted the requests via her own profile at open rent. The guy who showed us around said that a property management company takes care of the flat and presented himself as an assistant of the owner. I found the company that seems to be the property manager and the guy that showed us around seems to be the property manager but never mentioned that to us. Also, the website is “not secure”. There is no registration of the company at the Companies house and a letter he sent us with some details about what we would anticipate to pay was a very informal draft.
It sounds as though this landlord or property manager would like to set up the tenancy away from OpenRent? That in itself is completely fine, and plenty of landlords will have their own tenancy agreement and ways of paying deposits that are legitimate.
