Credit Checks for Foreign (US) Tenants

Hello all!!

I have a potential tenant from the US who has only been here a few weeks. Does anyone know what would I have to do about credit checks?

Thank you so much !

Think you will struggle on this, a friend of mine asked a similar question a few month ago and we tried to find a company that would do the credit check but no luck at all.
To stop you bothering with this inform them to get documents that will give you details that you require and then cross check them, a good gauge is bank statements if they have nowt in bank they can’t pay the rent.
Ensure they have a guarantor.

Thanks guys… so how do foreign tenants rent places here in the UK? Is it just enough to get a UK based guarantor and run a credit check on them? and a reference from her work perhaps (she has come here on a contract from one of the big universities)?

Ive taken plenty of foreign nationals and usually check their job, salary, savings, spending commitments and where possible get references from a previous landlord, (either here or abroad). I also do a uk referencing check to check-out their story.

In the US they have very detailed credit ratings for individuals, and one of the main agencies, Experian, has a specialist service called Experian RentalBureau which tracks rent payments, so you could try that
