Deduction from rental income

Hi All,

Hope you are well.

This is my first time here and hope to get some help on property related matters. It would be great if someone could help me with this.

I bought a property 5 yrs back and have been living in it since then (in Kent). Due to changes in circumstances, I am now looking to move out and live in the city. As such, I am looking to let out this property and rent one in the city. Does anyone know whether I can claim deduction for the rent paid in the city against income from letting out?

I was trying to look up online and I have come across mixed set of responses / articles supporting and against it. Any thoughts would be useful.

Thanks a lot in advance

no you cannot i have a feeling you will get the same from the taxman . You are not an MP are you I . remember they did something similar. Unless somhow you are a limited company and they have all sorts of odd rules

Thanks Colin, it’s kind of a double whammy for me :frowning: I was wondering if I could claim part work from home expenses too…
