Deposit advice Help

Hi All,

I’ve recently moved out of a rented property and the landlord wants to deduct the full value of a new carpet from the deposit.

During our stay the Iron was dropped on the carpet which has caused a burn mark. We where at the property for 8 years and the carpet was already in the property before we moved in and is in a high traffic area. I don’t feel it is fair that I should foot the bill fully for an 8+ year old carpet that was at the end of its lifespan.

Can I take this up with TDS or am I liable for the full cost due to damage regardless of the age and wear of the carpet.
