Deposit reduction for 1.5 year old invoice

Hi all.

We are moving out of our flat that we have rented for several years. Roughly 1.5 years ago, we had a moth infestation, which we alerted our letting agency about and they had resolved by an expert.

Now that we want to move out they suddenly bring up the cost for this removal as a reason to reduce our deposit. Is this reasonable?

We understand that generally tenants might have to pay the cost of pest control, but we feel this is something they should have brought up back then, and not now, more than 12 months later.

Are you sure there is no email from that time letting you know that it was your responsibility?
