Early termination of tenancy - utilities and CT

Our landlord as agreed to our request to end our tenancy 2 months early and we are aware that if replacement tenants not found we pay the rent.
However why do we have to continue paying utilities and council tax if not living there? We are vacating in 28 days. It does not state in the contract we have to continue paying utilities or council tax upon early termination - is this implied?

Thanks

Kevin

It is standard for the tenants to have to pay this if they leave early. Looking at it from the opposite angle why should the landlord have to pay council tax if you leave early? Utilities should presumably be minimal if property is empty.
