Guarantors and upfront rent

I’ve already signed an agreement (about a week ago), an “assured short hold” via docusign

I’ve just received an email from the rent deposit people stating my new contract is going to be a “Statutory Periodic Tenancy”

I’m due to pay tomorrow and not one person has informed me of the change in my agreement…
can they use my signature from the docusign I signed last week?

I’m so confused to what’s going on
Many thanks

Look closely at your old agreement and also the new one you have signed. If they say monthly rent then surely that is what you should pay.Did you contact your LL direct to speak to him?

A statutory periodic tenancy is not something you contract for. It arises by virtue of the law. If you’ve sign an agreement then you either have a new fixed term tenancy or a new contractual periodic tenancy. Either way the minimum fixed/initial term should be 6 months if you’ve agreed to pay that much in advance. Can you check this and report back.

Hi Tricia :kissing_heart:I actually know alot more than you must think about getting high priority for council housing. Not I would go down that route myself but I am happy to explain to any one who wants to no exactly how to go about it.
To be honest it is probably alot less stressful than trying to find a private let, especially when there is so much discrimination going on.

Well I’m meant to be doing something today regarding my tenancy… no one has contacted me to pay or to say what agreement I’m getting??!

As long as I can stay here a year… after that I’m moving as this agent or landlord is causing too much stress.

No point in putting your self through to much stress cause it just gets your head in a mess. If you are staying for 1 year and plan to secure another rental don’t leave it to late.

I think I’m going to buy something… if don’t pay your rent you could loose your home… and if you don’t pay your mortgage the same… but at least with buying I won’t have all the hassle and uncertainty.
I’m only renting because I’ve been undecided where I want to live… this has made me make up my mind!
My rent here is £1,250pcm that’s virtually a mortgage paid each month

Thank you to everyone for all your wonderful help…

If I had that option I would.
