I currently rent in Lancing. Very long story short-moved from Shoreham as fled an abusive marraige. Started from scratch. Im 3 years in and simply struggling to keep up with the rent. Because im seen paying the rent I cannot get council housing. My rent & bills are always my priority and paid on time. I work really hard. I would like to move back to shoreham as my daughter goes to school there. I need a little release on rent to help free some money for myself. I currently pay £1,850 for a 3 bed. I host students in my spare room to help top up, but ideally would like to stop. If there are any landlords out there with a 2/3 bed willing to rent out to me i would be most grateful. My situation the last 3 years has been some what emotionally exhausting. I am house proud. My home is clean & beautiful. I put in a lot of work to make it my home. Happy for a home visit if need be. I have a guarantor and a small dog.
Just a single parent trying my hardest to get by with no child support and need someone to help. Taking away a small amount of rent each month will help me enormously. Free-ing up some finances so I can live a little better.
Hi Holly, I’m also looking for affordable accommodation and I’m interested in finding a place in the Shoreham/Lancing area. If you hear of any landlords or properties available at a reasonable rent, I would really appreciate it if you could let me know. Thank you and I hope you find the right home for you and your daughter.
I’m not a landlord, but surely letting a room out to students in somewhere that you rent would be breaking the terms of your tenancy agreement, I may be wrong.
My landlord is fully aware of the arrangements. Always upfront & honest. We have a good landlord/tenant relationship. Please refrain from commenting if it is not useful.
@David122 may have a view but if you are subletting you may have all the same obligations as any other LL, to the student(s) who are your tenants. That could mean needing a written tenancy agreement if an APT or at least a lodger agreement.
Your LL may need to check if they or you need an hmo license and if hmo allowed by their insurance, and/or mortgage lender and/or freeholder.
