Honey Bees swarm in wall

Does anyone have experience of a swarm of Honey Bees in a hole in an outside gable end wall. What advice. I understand Honey Bees are protected and can not be destroyed. Also Beekeepers are not covered by insurance to remove Honey Bees from inside a building wall.
Is it a tenant or landlord responsibility? Landlord insurance does not cover.

if they are flying in and out of a wall, they’re likely to be mason bees which aren’t aggressive at all and are unlikely to sting you unless you grab one and give it a squeeze (and that’s only the females as males can’t sting). I’ve had them in a wall before and we ignored them and they caused the tenants no bother at all. This year, we noticed a few more in our own house as the weather warmed up so they’re obvs nesting somewhere nearby, we just let them out when they get trapped. No worries. I certainly wouldn’t advocate removing the nest if they are mason bees.

The pest control man says they are Honey Bees and could damage the wall and set up a home with wax and honey etc. and it may involve the removal of bricks etc. Very costly. How do i tell if they are Mason Bees?

er… they look like mason bees. Quite distinctive. Look em up online.

course he did… it’s how he makes a living.
