Do people ask for additional proof of ID during viewing to verify Open Rent Tenant verification ID check?
The right to rent check requires you to personally see their passport (or other docs) so this should verify it’s the same person.
If at the end of the viewing, I’ve not got any doubts about them applying, the first thing I do is request the photo ID I asked them to bring. I then explain my data protection notice and have them sign it and then take a photo of their ID for future ref.
If you conduct the viewing yourself, you would interact with the prospective tenant, innit? If so I would expect you to somehow have a mental picture of the people or persons you just interacted with.
Assuming you use the reference agency to do your reference , the tenant would supply their passport. The share code the give you , you would be able to download a right to rent verification document from the gov website. This document would have a photo of them.
You should be able to match these with the image (in your head) of the person you interacted with.
By all mean, you may ask prospective tenant to come with his/her photoID to the viewing but I never do that. For me, I remember everyone I speak with during property viewing. I remember faces clearly.
