How to define a lodger?

Living in a spare room in landlord’s house but don’t share living area, am I a lodger? Thank you.

Move to another place that suits you better

You are not going to change the landlord. His property his rules essentially. You could write a letter highlighting your concerns but don’t hold your breath.

I assume some of this thread has been deleted, but to answer the question that remains, yes, provided the landlord also lives there, you are a lodger. You probably have a non-assured tenancy with basic protection. Have a look at the Shelter tenancy checker for more detail.
