Insurance for my furniture

Is my contents insured if the flat above mine which is the landlords also leaks water and damages laptop etc

We don’t know because we can’t read your insurance policy from here… assuming you have one that is.

So, let’s start with the basics: Do you have contents insurance?

I would think…

If your contents have been damaged from a leak from another property, then yes, I’d say you are covered.

If you have Contents insurance, you will claim from them, and they will likely pay out. They then may claim it back from the owner of the property which cause your damage or their insurance policy.

If you do not have contents insurance, then you’d have to fight the battle yourself, and contact the owners insurance direct to see if they will cover your financial loss. If you do not know who their insurers were, you’d write to the owner, and claim from them, but without a contents insurer to fight this battle, you could end up having to pursue legal action against them to recover your loss.

and if you do follow Karl’s reasonable advice in his last paragraph, be prepared for the LL to serve you a Section 21 notice and have to find a new home.
