Daz, Im concerned by an automated system message I received a few minutes ago in relation to my reply to the thread “how does 6 months rent in advance help”. My reply, which has now been hidden was:
“As so-called accidental landlords you are very vulnerable to what you dont know. I would suggest you dont try to manage this yourself, but find a reputable local agent to do full management.”
The automated message flagged it as innappropriate and potentially offensive, abusive, hateful or a breach of guidelines. Id be grateful if you could clarify the problem with my post and why its been hidden.
are you sure it was automatic or did someone report you? I have had similar, although rather more flippant, content flagged in the past where I have suggested people may lack the qualifications to be a LL
The message says that its automated, but yes, its possible that someone took offence to something and flagged it, although Im not sure which part, which would make it difficult to do what the meassage suggests, which is to edit the post to remove the offending part.

It’s censorship by openrent
I posted two replies to two different posts
Both were removed and hidden
I suggested alternative websites
For student lets and the chap who posted about viewings and advised to speak to a local estate agent for the price as I had to drop mine
I suggested the website’s attracted tenants who otherwise would not get accommodation having done five viewings the other day with no luck.
Well my post is still in moderation and we know Daz is around as he has replied to other posts today. At this point Im assuming that my recommendation that a newby inexperienced landlord considers getting help to manage the tenancy, conflicts with Openrent’s commercial interests. Happy to be proved wrong.
Free speech is one thing, but my bigger concern is if moderation prevents inexperienced landlords from grasping the full extent the risks they face by going it alone.
