I have been asking the landlord to show me a copy of the contract so I can read it before signing and making the payment. But she keeps thinking that I am either scamming her or she is not good at scamming people.
What payment are you being asked? The most you should be being asked to pay is the equivalent of 1 weeks rent as a Holding Deposit.
Are they asking you to pay via Openrent or direct?
Where has the property been advertised - Openrent/ Facebook etc?
Have you viewed the property / met the Landlord?
I have been asked “payment”, when I asked for clarification she didn’t responded yet. But yes I have viewed the place and met her.
I saw the advert in Openrent. And she asked me to pay direct not through Openrent.
It’s fine & normal for a landlord to ask for a 1 week holding deposit prior to them referencing you etc.
Many landlords will ask for this direct. It does not have to be paid via Openrent.
Look up the property on the HMLR website to check if she owns it.
