I listed a one-bedroom flat about two weeks ago and I’ve noticed demand seems a bit slower than expected. Are any of you experiencing the same at the moment?
I’d love to hear what strategies you’re using to boost enquiries and conversions. Thanks in advance for sharing your insights.
I’m having the same issue. I’ve had mine listed just under a week and no enquiries yet. I’m not sure if it is the time of year and things might pick up now it’s Spring and hopefully more people looking to move.
Pray for spring sunshine (and a surge of tenants moving as some LLs sell up due to RRA). And that the economy doesn’t keep flatlining despite higher taxes, increasing unemployment and trumps tariffs and foreign wars. Over 2025 rents have apparently fallen (in London) and supply increased so no sensible tenant will move now unless they have to. And bad Feb weather hasn’t helped.
And make sure price is competitive inc with surrounding areas…
Hi David, yes, I moved to Bristol and am renting there at the moment whilst I try and rent out my other property in another city and it seems there is a bit of a glut of rental properties in Bristol - the letting agent said some prospective tenants are managing to negotiate rents down and I could see from some of the ads when I was searching that prices had been reduced.
I’m in Bristol and can confirm it. The market is inundated with properties (so much for LL selling and rental housing shortage, LOL).
I believe the reason is clearly low demand. People are just not moving. As more and more properties are listed for rent, we get high supply and low demand.
Low season can only partially explain it. We rented flats in low season before, and it’s never been that dire.
It’s tricky as there are fewer tenants and yet with Renters Rights it’s more important than ever to get decent tenants… I’m only paying for advertising on Open Rent at the moment. Is it advisable to pay the extra to advertise a property on On the Market and Rightmove too? I only came across Open Rent recently when I was looking to rent myself, so have no idea what sort of footfall it commands.
Of course! Rightmove is the main rental portal. That’s where all Estate Agents advertise their portfolio. It’s quite steep, £79, but, essential. Or you can pay more to the agent who will do the same (plus paperwork later on).
