Previous deposit

HI All,
We moved out of a property with a letting agency on the 30th June and the inventory was completed on the 6th July. When asking about my deposit £1,128, they are saying there is no update regarding getting our money back and we have to wait.
Is there a legal timeframe that we should get our money back? Thanks

When both agree to a return i think it is 10 days

I believe the 10 day timeframe is advisory rather than legally enforceable.

When it comes to getting that hard-earned cash back, the legal timeframe can vary depending on where you live and local regulations.

In some places, it might be around 10 to 30 days, but it’s always best to check the specific tenant laws in your area. Don’t hesitate to follow up with the letting agency and remind them of the agreed-upon timeline.

Have a read of the tenancy deposit information you would (should) have been given when you took out the tenancy. It’s likely to explain who holds the money, and if it’s held in a custodial tenant deposit scheme you can apply for it back from them.
