I’m curious which of the above questions you believe are unlawful. Please specify.
See above from @Graham, discrimination on the basis of housing benefit status, has been ruled unlawful. Discrimination on the basis of sex/sexuality is unlawful, so the phrase “single lady” is just a no-no.
To be honest, I have lost interest in this discussion, as it seems like I’m “howling at the moon”. How would you feel if you got into a cab, only to find it wasn’t licensed? Would the fact it’s the cab driver’s cab mean you would be okay with the fact they were breaking the law?
You either recognize that law applies to you, or you don’t. If you don’t you are risking being sued, which will cost a lot more than an eviction.
I have decided that the core cause of all this paranoia is irrational fear. My feeling is, that most landlords are financially unsophisticated, and would not last five minutes in a business.
Thus, I started a thread about how landlords run their finances.
It sounds odd, but I feel that if was greater education of finances for landlords, there would be less unlawful activity. If you feel like you need to act unlawfully to make money, you are obviously uninformed. I’m starting to suspect that the sales pitch from insurance companies also underlies a lot of the misplaced opinions. Fear sells insurance, insurance companies want you to be irrationally scared.
